Man Adopts 45 Dogs And Sets Them Free On His Four Acres Of Land

It’s great that dog shelters exist, but a dog’s experience in one can still be pretty bad. They live in small spaces just waiting and hoping they’ll be adopted into a loving forever home. Due to overpopulation, many dogs end up spending large chunks of their lives in shelters. The staff does their best for the dog, but they don’t get to experience true freedom. There’s just no beating a real home.

That’s what makes this video so amazing. A man adopted 45 dogs… 45! He then let them roam free on his four-acre enclosed land to let them live their lives on their own terms.

“We live with 45 dogs and a Grey Wolf. A new 4-acre play enclosure had just been built for them and the video shows them first being let loose to play in it,” the owner said.

Thank you for having a big heart and giving these dogs a place they can call home. If only there were more people in the world like you!

How is he going to feed these 45 dogs and provide shelter as well as vet care for them? There’s not a lot of info here, and the info provided is scary. These aren’t wild animals. Life on their own terms means dependency on humans for all survival needs.

“Live on their own terms?” What does that mean? They have to fend for themselves for food? And what about shelter? And the dogs seemed to be very healthy when they were set “free”. Something seems really wrong here. I hope they haven’t gone from one bad situation to another.

I think he means, they can play to their hearts content in the field. Shelter animals are so locked up in lack of space. That their little doggy faces when given the opportunity to run, jump explore, was just pure joy. But when their finished with that they have control of where to sleep and eat

I agree!~ And also, unless they are all female, 45 dogs will soon become 1,000 dogs. What will they eat enclosed in 4 acres? How many squirrels are there? You’ll get packs with fighting males, etc. 1,000 dogs will soon become 5,000. What then? 4 acres with 5,000 dogs that have to be shot? Good intentions can then lead to very bad mistakes!

How will 45 dogs become 1000 unless they are all female? The shelters fix the animals if they arnt already. So 45 dogs will stay 45 dogs unless her gets more. I’m sure hes going to give them food to eat because they were shelter dogs that have been fed their whole lives and didnt have to hunt. And bot all male dogs are fighting dogs. Even dogs that have been forced to fight still are good with other dogs, they only fought becaus9they were forced to.
I’m sure this fantastic human has put a lot of thought in it and thought about what could happen.

Y’all need to do more research before commenting. All the dogs are spayed and neutered. They won’t “become 1000 dogs.” He is providing food and they have shelter. They are all vetted and donors are ensuring vetting stays current. Did you not see the one dog with the cone? This is a hero who has done this all the right way. So quick to judge. Why don’t you spend some time volunteering for a shelter or rescue instead of criticizing someone who has done more than any of us for these animals?

Absolutely! Too many critics that sit on the sidelines and poke at someone who is actually doing something ! A much better approach would be support, whether financially or verbally!

CONGRATULATIONS. GOD BLESS HIM NOW, EVERY DAY UNTIL THE END OF HIS JOURNEY HERE AND AFTERWARDS AS WELL. ETERNALLY. (sorry my mistakes, I’m Brazilian)

Just because you were incompetent doesn’t mean everyone is . There is no evidence of any problem there or in the huge rescue in Costa Rica where upwards of 1000 dogs are living in harmony . I suppose you think it’s better to lock them up in small cages until they are euthanized.

I’m amazed that some people jump to the negative after reading such a heart-warming story. I’m quite certain this wonderful man did not adopt them just to let them starve to death. And I’m sure shelter is provided as well. Thank you, kind gentleman.

I agree….people are too quick to judge…..this man is too big hearted not to think of all their needs. I’m sure the dogs are all vaccinated, fixed, have plenty of food and water and a warm place to sleep. He obviously loves dogs.

This is something I’ve dreamed of doing but never had the money for it. I’ve adopted cats from shelters but I’ve always said I wish I had a piece of land so I could take in homeless dogs and cats…..or whatever wanders to my door. Bless you for doing this.

I love seeing them heading out to their area. And yes HUGE undertaking, feeding, caring, vetting,
SO DO-ABLE, Would like to see more home-based environments for Dogs, Horses, Cats.all animals in need. I will add the most important aspect of success
THE RIGHT HUMAN, not all can do this, and many add their fears, which is known by those who work with animals, FEAR CAN NOT LIVE HERE. Love does.

The concept is great but will they be left to fend for themselves? Find their own food? Are they all spayed and neutered? What about vaccinations and vet care? It could be the perfect storm. I really hope the dogs will be well taken care of.

I pray that you have them spayed or neutered, and I wish you would define “living free.” It sounds like you mean NO CARE. Will you feed them and let them in and out of your home? Are you going to feed them, vet them, shelter them? Is there a barn or outbuilding they can get into freely during storms? This article needs to be much more specific. Will they sleep in your house? I am envisioning cannibalistic packs of dogs killing each other on four acres.

Take a look at his FB page ‘Some Dogs Are Angels’ and you will see that he has had some of the dogs for years, they go in his house and all are happy and healthy. Boo!, to the negative people who judged before checking out the facts. I agree the article implies that all the dogs were adopted, clearly not correct.

Stop being so negative! Why are you like this? I’m sure this guy has worked out a suitable life for these dogs, before giving his land to them for a home. And you know what??,,,,,,,,,It’s horrendous in shelters for all animals! I’ve worked in rescue for over 25 years! The dogs would do anything to have a situation like this…well hello! Wouldn’t you in this situation. Why don’t you ask him instead of making ‘grand statements’ re no care. no food, are they spayed or castrated….why don’t you go see for yourselves if you are so worried…why don’t you send him food and bedding and money to help instead of ripping his rescue to pieces!! Shame on you all! Research before you attack someone who is trying to help!

So no one has a right to ask legitimate questions? With the exception of “45 dogs becoming 1,000”, which was a bit ignorant, most of the so-called “negative” posts I saw were people merely asking, or were expressing their hopes that the dogs can and will be cared for properly. Why do you see that as a bad thing? That is hardly “ripping his rescue to pieces”. Realistically, caring for 45 dogs is a huge undertaking, and people merely have questions not answered/explained in the article. The article makes it sound like maybe these dogs were just turned loose on 4 acres to fend for themselves. Possibly the video says more, I don’t know. Some of us are unable to watch it. You say you are “sure the guy has worked out a suitable life for these dogs.” So it sounds like an assumption on your part and that you don’t really know for certain. And really, telling people who have questions that they should go there to see for themselves?? You know good and well most people can’t realistically go there to look. If you’ve worked in rescue for 25 years, you should be glad people are concerned for the dogs and ask legitimate questions. In truth, there are bad rescues out there, and well intentioned people who bite off more than they can chew in trying to help. Then the dogs suffer. I’m not at all saying this case is one of those, but why do you object so harshly to others being concerned or vigilant? Scolding others like they are naughty children because they have questions, really? ? Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today…

People are so judgmental… you know the shelters just don’t turn dogs over to just anyone.. what lucky dogs these are.. what a kind compassionate man… you can see his property is fenced in and it’s a nice location… I can tell you this.. if i were a dog on a cold shelter floor.. this choice would be better no matter what!!! thank you for opening up your heart rescuer!!
